What is April Fools' Day know as in France, where the annual prank-pulling day is believed to have originated?
April Fish, or Poisson d'Avril, which is the phrase French youngsters shout after taping paper fish or pictures of a fish onto the backs of friends. The prank is linked to the old Julian calendar, when April was the start of the New Year and coincided with the sun's leaving the zodical sign of Pisces, the fish constellation.
